Rupprecht Geiger (1908–2009) was a German abstract painter best known for his powerful use of color, especially shades of red, orange, and pink. He was a key figure in postwar European abstraction and closely associated with color field painting.
Geiger believed color itself could create emotional and spatial experience, so his works often feature large, simple geometric forms with smooth surfaces and glowing intensity. Rather than depicting objects or figures, his paintings focus on how color affects perception and feeling.
