Félix Vallotton (1865–1925) was a Swiss-French painter, printmaker, and writer, best known for his powerful woodcuts and his distinctive, modern approach to painting. Associated with the group Les Nabis, Vallotton developed a highly personal style marked by flat areas of color, sharp outlines, and an often unsettling sense of stillness.
In his paintings, Vallotton frequently depicted interiors, landscapes, and scenes of everyday life, but with an underlying psychological tension. His compositions are carefully structured, sometimes austere, and his use of light and shadow creates a dramatic, almost theatrical atmosphere.
